Halloween Weekend
Yogi Bear Jellystone Campground
Hagerstown, MD
It was another successful camping trip to Yogi Bear in Hagerstown. We were a large crowd - thirty-three all together. The weather was made-to-order, and the festive activities of the host campground were nothing short of wonderful. We arrived on Friday, 10/12, under slightly cloudy skies. Setup was quick, uneventful, and dry. Others arrived throughout the night filling in the camp sites and cabins. Many of us enjoyed a stew dinner, followed by a roaring campfire and marshmallows. Saturday was filled with activities. Pumpkin and ceramic painting, a costume parade followed by costume judging, camper-to-camper trick or treat, then movies. As the sun set and the ghosts came out, a haunted walk and haunted house were enjoyed by all (well maybe most) of the kids. A late-night dance complete with DJ finished off the planned activities. We all ate good throughout the day - starting off with a hearty "Breakfast Casserole" in the Dutch Oven (though a bit late in the morning for some folks), then sandwiches for lunch and burgers for dinner. Night time saw a nice Dutch Oven cobbler, complete with Ice Cream. The days were glorious throughout - warm 70's during the day, and cool/brisk 50's at night. The air was filled with falling leaves all around us. It truly was a wonderful weekend.
