Summer Begins!
Virginia Beach, VA - June 6-13, 2007

School's out, and it's time for some summer fun.  We are heading south to Virginia Beach.  Unlike last year, this time, we are staying closer to the water (no more 2+ hour drives to get there).  In fact, we were less then 10 minutes away!  We stayed in the Holiday Trav-L-Park campground right on General Booth Blvd.  It was a VERY nice campground.  As you can see from the picture above, they had nice level pads, large lots, and an above ground fire pit.  Our site was adjacent to one of the many pools.

Present on this trip were Ashley and I, and her friend Heather.  Also present were Helen and the boys, and Paul, Katie, and Alyssa.  Despite a setback on the way down (blown out RV tire) and a small error upon arrival (I setup in the wrong site and had to pack up and move), it was an excellent week.  The weather was in the 80s during the day, and 60s at night - just perfect.  There was no rain other then a quick overnight shower one evening.  It was a great week!

In addition to all the campground fun, there is always lots of things to do in VA Beach.  We enjoyed the sand and surf (cold water though), the boardwalk area for shopping and Henna Tattoos, and lots of the other local amenities.  We spent an afternoon at the Aquarium seeing all the nice exhibits (including Ashley's Penguins) and also caught a spectacular 3D show in the IMAX.  A trip to the local go-kart race track was also lot's of fun.
