Spring Break
Yogi Bear - Quarryville, PA April 11 - 15
This was a "Spring Break" trip to Quarryville, PA. Ashley was off of school for Spring Break, so we decided to head out for a 5-day camping trip. Yogi in Quarryville was the selected location. Ashley's friend Brittany came along for the trip.
We arrived Wed afternoon, setup camp, and quickly realized we were the only ones there. Seems all the locals were in school, and there were no other campers in sight. So, we knew it was gonna be real quiet for the first couple of days. After setup, we went out for some of the local ice cream (yummy!). Later we enjoyed a stew dinner, then relaxed and watched a movie. It started to rain overnight, and lasted well into Thursday.
Since the weather was bad on Thursday, and there was no one else at the campground, we decided to venture out into town for some fun. We made an appointment with a Day Spa in the afternoon for some manicures (not me though) and messages (that one I got!). It was both Ashley and Brittany's first exposure to this kind of pampering. Though a bit apprehensive, they ultimately both enjoyed it. Then, it was off to a dinner theater - were we had a nice dinner, and saw a play called "Goodbye Charlie". It was a comedy about a guy who dies and comes back as a woman. It was pretty good.
Then on Friday, things picked up. The weather turned sunny, and other campers arrived in droves. While the place was not nearly full, there was at least enough other folks around to meet. From there, Ashley and Brittany were doing their "teen thing" - meeting folks and hanging out. I didn't see much of them the rest of the weekend except when they were hungry, or it was time for bed. I used some of this free time to catch up on season one of the show 24.
Fortunately for me, a nice family arrived next to us with a gang of young kids. It was mom-mom and pop-pop, and their 5 grandsons and granddaughters. We all hit it off nicely, and enjoyed each others company until it was time to leave on Sunday. We roasted marshmallows, played Bingo, did some face painting, and enjoyed some nice conversation together. They were terrific folks and the nicest and sweetest kids. I will miss them and I hope to run into them again at a future camping trip.
